We suggest that you visit your GP, local GUM clinic or come to the Jefferiss wing walk-in sexual health clinic if you have had unprotected sex (no condom or broken condom) or if you experience any of the following possible sexually transmitted infection (STI) symptoms:
Male symptoms
• Itching, swelling or redness around the penis
• Irritation or pain in the penis
• A discharge (leaking) from the penis
• Pain passing urine or passing urine more often
• Pain or swelling in the testicles or scrotum
• Painful or painless blisters, sores or lumps in the pubic or genital area
• Lumps around or inside the anus
• Pain, discharge or bleeding from the anus
• Pains in the lower abdomen
Female symptoms
• Itching, swelling or redness around the vagina
• A change in your vaginal discharge
• Pain passing urine or passing urine more often
• Abnormal vaginal bleeding, for example heavier or more painful periods, bleeding between periods or bleeding after sex
• Abdominal pain or pain during sex
• Painful or painless blisters, sores or lumps in the pubic or genital area
• Lumps around or inside the anus
• Pain, discharge or bleeding from the anus
The symptoms listed above may indicate a sexually transmitted infection (STI) but can also be caused by other conditions.
