Sexual health

Sexual health is an issue for everyone, whether you are in a relationship or not. Ensuring good sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having safe sexual experiences free of coercion, discrimination and violence.

Our services
The team at the Jefferiss wing provide one of the UK's largest open-access clinics, offering a full range of services from well-person sexual health checks through to more specialist GUM clinics for specific conditions and infections. We also provide emergency hormonal contraception (the 'morning-after' pill) and assessments for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) treatment if you have been exposed to HIV.

Everyone who uses our services will be offered an HIV test. We routinely recommend testing.

All sexual health services are confidential and free and we will treat you in a professional and courteous manner. A multi-professional team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists and support staff provide our services.

Your first visit
When you arrive at the Jefferiss wing you will be asked to tell us why you have come so that we can ensure you are seen by the person best able to help you. Many infections and conditions can be identified at your first visit and if necessary we will treat you at this time. We offer either a face-to-face follow-up appointment or text messaging service to obtain your results, depending on what tests you have had done.
