Sexual assault

Any woman, man or child who has experienced rape or sexual assault within the last year can get help by making an appointment at the Haven at St Mary's Hospital. Havens are sexual assault referral centres open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Haven is staffed by experienced and fully trained professionals who know exactly what to do in the immediate aftermath of a sexual assault. Their expert care, counselling and advice continues for as long as it takes in the time that follows.

Our services
The services we offer include:
• Emotional support (counselling)
• Emergency hormonal contraception (the 'morning-after' pill) and referrals for other emergency contraception (coil/interuterine device)
• Prevention and/or treatment of sexually transmitted infections
• Treatment of minor injuries
• A medical (forensic) examination to collect evidence for court
• Referrals to other services where required

To make an appointment at the Haven you, or a GP, can telephone 020 3312 1101, Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 17.00. If you are calling out-of-hours please telephone the St Mary's Hospital switchboard on 020 3312 6666.

Appointments can be available within one hour if necessary.
