Joint working project

Joint working project between Imperial College Healthcare NHS trust and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

The HIV and sexual health department at St Mary's Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, have entered into a joint working agreement with Bristol-Myers Squibb for a period of twelve months, this is outlined in the ABPI/DH joint working template and has a review period of six week intervals. Both parties have committed equal funding as detailed in the ABPI/DH joint working template. The aim of the joint working agreement is to promote the “ RAPID HIV testing Clinic” at the Jefferiss Wing making testing more accessible to those currently not accessing services in a high prevalence area.

The objectives are:

  • Identify patients with previously undiagnosed HIV through increased testing of the local population
  • Ensure patients testing positive for HIV are transitioned into specialist services as smoothly and quickly as possible
  • Reduce onward transmission in the community
  • Reduction in late diagnosis which is a major cause of HIV mortality
