Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy provides rehabilitation for adult and paediatric inpatients and outpatients. Treatment includes education, advice and exercise to maximise independence and self management strategies.

Areas of particular expertise include: orthopaedic and musculo-skeletal conditions; pain management; management of strokes and adult neurology; medicine for the elderly; acute and chronic respiratory disorders; critical care; obstetrics and urogynaecological problems; paediatric and adult HIV; paediatrics.

Outpatient services are available to the following groups:

  • Adult and paediatric musculoskeletal conditions
  • Adult and paediatric patients who have had orthopaedic surgery
  • Women’s health conditions
  • Chronic pulmonary illness
  • Extended scope practitioner service in adult and paediatric orthopaedic clinics, pain clinics, chronic respiratory care, with clinical specialists in adult and paediatric HIV clinics  

Adult and paediatric inpatient services are available as part of a consultant episode of care.

All referrals are screened and may be referred on to our community based services if appropriate.

Specialist physiotherapists lead each team and services are structured to facilitate multidisciplinary working.
