Child psychiatry (CAMHS)

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) takes referrals from paediatricians at St Mary’s Hospital for problems at the interface between paediatrics and child psychiatry (e.g. somatisation related disorders, eating disorders, adjustment reactions to physical illness, neuropsychiatric problems, anxiety and depressive disorders, acute psychiatric disorders).

The CAMHS liaison team offers an assessment and short-term treatment service for children and families (who are inpatients and local families as outpatients) and psychological guidance for parents with psychological reactions to the hospital admission. It acts as a bridging service for children requiring further help from their local CAMHS.
