Liaison psychiatry

The department of liaison psychiatry at St Mary’s in Paddington provides a 24-hour service for the assessment and management of psychological problems. 

The department offers the following services:

• A 24-hour nurse-led service for St. Mary's Hospital accident and emergency department. This department is the main point of access for many people presenting with acute mental health problems in Westminster
• A consultation-liaison service for both inpatients and outpatients of St Mary's Hospital, including specialist psychiatric and psychological services for people with HIV, Hepatitis C. We assist referring clinicians and clinical teams in decision making in difficult and complex cases, and providing training to staff
• A perinatal psychiatry service for women attending for antenatal and perinatal care
