Endocrine surgery

The endocrine surgical unit has a long tradition of close clinical and academic collaboration with the hospital’s endocrinology service.

Surgery carried out at the hospital includes:

  • Surgical treatment for overactive thyroid
  • Removal of thyroid lumps, both benign and malignant
  • Removal of overactive parathyroid glands
  • Removal of adrenal lumps, both benign and malignant

A full pre-operative assessment of each individual’s endocrine status is carried out before any endocrine surgery. A monthly pituitary clinic is available for routine patients pre and post-surgery.

St Mary’s is the designated thyroid cancer centre for north-west London, in conjunction with  Hammersmith Hospital.

The team is very experienced, having an established thyroid clinic (spanning surgery and medicine) for over ten years. GPs can directly refer into surgical thyroid clinics.
