Clinical haematology

The clinical haematology department provides eight outpatient clinics with shared daycare and inpatient facilities. The consultants have achieved national and international recognition in the specialty of blood and marrow cell morphology, an essential prerequisite for accurate diagnosis of blood disorders and provide expert opinions on aspects of complex medical cases. We provide a clinical service to the local community and because of the different ethnic mix of this population, developed expertise in the haemoglobinopathies.

The service offers:

  • General haematology clinics via Choose and Book
  • Specialist clinics including:
    Plasma cell dyscrasia clinic
    Lymphoma clinic
    Thrombosis and haemostasis and obstetric haematology
     Haemoglobinopathy clinic
  • Anticoagulant clinics and outreach services (nurse-led anticoagulation clinic at St Mary’s, St Charles and Queen Park Medical Centre)
