Anaesthetics

The anaesthetic division provides anaesthesia to 19,000 patients undergoing surgery each year. It provides an obstetric anaesthetic service as well as inpatient and outpatient pain services.

Consultants run the intensive care unit and support other critical care units. The major trauma centre at St. Mary's opened late 2010 and anaesthetists provide advanced resuscitation skills in the emergency department and throughout the hospital.
