A&E

The emergency department (A&E) at St Mary’s Hospital provides high quality emergency care
24 hours a day.

Severely injured or seriously ill patients always receive priority.

Patients are seen on arrival by an assessment nurse who ‘streams’ patients to be seen by the appropriate practitioner.
Emergency nurse practitioners work alongside the A&E doctors. Patients may also be referred to an out-of-hours GP service provided by the PCT.

In addition, St Mary’s Hospital is the Major Trauma Centre for north west London.
