Comprehensive biomedical research centre

The Trust in partnership with Imperial College is one of only five cBRC's in the country

Research at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust covers human physiology, disease and the development of new medical treatments. Our projects range from small pilot studies to multicentre clinical trials. We also coordinate large research programme grants and ensure all our research meets government standards.

The Trust, in partnership with Imperial College London, is a comprehensive biomedical research centre (cBRC), one of only five in England. We are a member of the London (North West) comprehensive local research network (CLRN). We have funding as an experimental medicine centre, as an experimental cancer medicine centre and as a centre for patient safety and service quality.

Last year our researchers produced over 2,500 research publications. Read more in our 2007/08 annual report.

Research and development
All research at the Trust is overseen by our research and development (R&D) department. All research carried out on Trust premises must be registered with the R&D department.

Clinical trials
Clinical trials at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust are generally grouped into two categories: commercial and non-commercial. You can download the general trial procedures and a project overview below (PDF, require Adobe Acrobat Reader, free download).
