Heart disease and stroke are currently the most common causes of death in the UK. The risk factors for these conditions are well understood, however, which means prevention is possible.

The International Centre for Circulatory Health (ICCH) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is helping to investigate new treatments and new prevention strategies for cardiovascular disease.

We are involved in several major national and international studies and have coordinated some of the largest clinical trials ever carried out on the subject of heart disease and stroke.

Our research focuses on several key areas:
• Causes of heart disease and stroke
• New targets for treatment
• The relationship between ethnicity and cardiovascular disease
• New methods for early diagnosis and imaging of blood vessels

You can read more in our research topics section.
