The Imperial Centre for Patient Experience Research (ICPER) has been launched thanks to cBRC funding. The aim of the Centre is to translate research findings into improved patient experience and care.
The Centre will draw together a number of applied social and behavioural scientists from across Imperial College London and also bring new researchers on board. The multidisciplinary team will offer support to investigators who need to use qualitative and social research methods to understand patient experience and outcomes in relation to research.
The Centre will work closely with the Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (ICTU) to ensure investigators are aware of the advice available to them and when it might be appropriate to seek input.
Centre director Professor Helen Ward said: “High quality healthcare requires excellence in the three domains of clinical effectiveness, safety and patient experience.
“The ICPER will undertake qualitative and quantitative research to understand how patients experience their care and identify the aspects they value and how these can be improved.
“By working closely with partners involved in managing services, as well as groups working on patient safety and engagement, our work will directly benefit patients and the local population.”
