Renal services
Imperial College Renal and Transplant Centre at the Hammersmith Hospital
The Imperial College Renal and Transplant centre offers a specialist adult renal and transplant service to patients. The centre is staffed by a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team with expertise across a range of subspecialties. The proximity to the Imperial College Faculty of Medicine’s main research base ensures that services are continually developed to represent the most innovative practices in treating renal conditions.
A new set of videos explores the Trust’s renal services, including kidney transplant and dialysis as well as the direct access service for patients who need immediate treatment and advice offered by the Rapid Access Renal Unit at Hammersmith Hospital.
The videos have been designed using patient and referrer feedback – to inform and reassure service users and their families. They also give a succinct introduction to the Trust’s renal services for referrers. Virtual tours of our facilities and interviews with consultants prepare patients for their treatment and help to provide reassurance. The site also features case studies with people who have been treated successfully at Imperial, including a couple who have undergone live kidney transplant and a Lupus sufferer who completed two successful pregnancies under the care of the unit.
