Research
Research and development is a fundamental part of the Imperial College Renal and Transplant Centre, reflecting the trust's philosophy of continually improving patient treatment and care through cutting edge research.
The centre has four main aims:
• Support excellence in clinical care
• Enhance research potential
• Support education initiatives
• Improve patient outcomes and experience
Many of the senior medical staff at the centre, as well as working for the hospital, have positions at Imperial College London, the trust's major academic partner and consistently ranked in the top five universities in the world.
The size of the unit, and the critical mass of researchers and clinicians based on one site offers an unprecedented opportunity to carry out research on almost every aspect of renal medicine, from molecular to population studies. We will have one of the largest patient populations in Europe, with enough specialist patient groups to conduct meaningful and effective clinical trials.
