Infertility services

The department of reproductive medicine offers a comprehensive infertility service that includes diagnostic, surgical and assisted conception treatments. It is one of the largest providers of assisted conception in the UK and operates a quality management system ISO 9001. Treatment is available to NHS and private patients and there is free access to counselling during treatment.

The following services are available:

  • Diagnostic – hysterosalpingogram, ultrasonography, semen analysis, genetic testing, follicular monitoring, hormone analysis and MRI
  • Surgical – therapeutic laparoscopy or hysteroscopy, tubal surgery, myomectomy, septal division, surgical extraction of sperm and all other reproductive surgery
  • Assisted conception - IVF, ICSI, IUI including egg or sperm donation, PGD, assisted hatching, blastocyst transfer, cycles using frozen embryos, eggs or sperm, surrogacy, PGS (including egg and blastocyst biopsy)
  • Fertility preservation - NHS funding approval for oncology patients requiring egg or embryo preservation prior to chemotherapy can usually be obtained quickly so treatment can start straight away, social egg vitrification is available to private patients

Egg collection procedures are done under sedation with a consultant anaesthetist in attendance.

Pregnancy and implantation success rates are considerably higher than the published average HFEA rates. The latest results are available on: www.ivfhammersmith.com/pregnancyrates.htm
