Gynaecology

The gynaecology and gynaecological oncology services at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital diagnose and treat a range of disorders affecting the female reproductive organs. We offer general gynaecology advice and treatment as well as a range of specialist services, including:

• Colposcopy – a consultant-led outpatient diagnostic and treatment service by qualified colposcopists
• Gynaecological oncology – The West London Gynaecological Cancer Centre provides tertiary referral services for a population of more than two million. Surgical services include radical debulking and fertility sparing surgery together with a full range of minimal access techniques
• Early pregnancy assessment unit (EPAU) – a consultant-led early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology service. The unit provides assessment and management of early pregnancy problems, including early pregnancy bleeding up to 12 weeks’ gestation. The unit is open on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 09.00 to 13.00. There are plans to extend the opening hours during the year
• National Centre for Adolescent and Adult Females with Congenital Abnormalities of the Genital Tract - a predominantly tertiary service but patients can be referred by GPs
• Outpatient hysteroscopy – a weekly one-stop clinic that accepts referrals directly from GPs
• Menopause – provides a premature ovarian failure clinic and a general menopause service with an integrated approach towards the menopause, including discussion about HRT, pharmacological alternatives and complementary therapies
• Endometriosis – a specialist and tertiary referral centre for endometriosis. The multidisciplinary team offers a holistic approach to the management of endometriosis

Location
All outpatient services are carried out in the gynaecology outpatients department, ground floor.

The day care unit and inpatient services are located within the dedicated gynaecology Victor Bonney ward, 2nd floor.

The early pregnancy assessment unit is located in D6 ward, Hammersmith Hospital.
