As part of our celebrations marking 60 years of the NHS, we asked some of our patients to tell us about their experiences at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Here are their responses:
Sue Bush, patient at Hammersmith Hospital
'I had four tests in two hours – it was so quick. I usually have difficulties giving blood as the places the nurses can take it from are limited. At Hammersmith they made sure it didn’t hurt and was over in just a couple of minutes!'
Ben Chaytow, visiting his wife at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital
'My wife gave birth last night by caesarean section and staff made sure my family was treated with the upmost care and concern.'
Rosemin Manji, visiting her father at Hammersmith Hospital
'My father had a heart attack last night and I was impressed by the speed of the emergency response and the excellent service we received. The nurses were very understanding, answered all of our questions and talked us through every stage of the process.'
Gladys Reilly, outpatient at Hammersmith Hospital
'I have always been treated with dignity and respect by the staff here. They are genuine, warm people that give you a personal service. I have no complaints!'
Ehsan Kahn, patient at Charing Cross Hospital
'I had cancer in my mouth and was referred to Charing Cross. In my opinion it’s the best hospital in the world. Even though they are busy, doctors, nurses and consultants give their best to every patient. They deserve all the praise I can think of – what a wonderful team! I hope the NHS continues for another 60 years!'
Phillip Barnes, outpatient at Hammersmith Hospital
'I value the NHS because regardless of your situation or status everyone can access it. I was very impressed by Hammersmith Hospital too. It’s modern, bright and clean – like a holiday chalet!'

Anthony Young, patient at Charing Cross Hospital
'Pure professionalism, outstanding care and compassion – that’s how I’d describe my experiences with the NHS. I feel safe in the hands of the staff here who always go over and above the call of duty. All I can say is thank you!'
