Our website for children and young people is designed to help our patients find out what to expect when they come to one of our hospitals. Thanks to a generous charitable donation we have been able to create a comprehensive, friendly website offering a large choice of informative and entertaining video clips, all designed for children and young people.
To make sure the website is as useful and accessible as possible, we tailored the content for three different age groups:
Many children, young people and their families kindly helped us make the videos, which cover four key areas of hospital care:
We involved children and parents at every stage of the website’s development, and we hope you find it useful. We welcome any further feedback that you might have. Please email web@imperial.nhs.uk with comments or suggestions. You can find more information about how we made the website at the bottom of this page.
Information for parents
The children's section includes a few tips for parents. The main Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust website contains information about paediatrics aimed at the general public. To access this, choose one of the links on the left.
If you’d like to find out more about the consultants who’ll be looking after your child, you can check their profile on our consultant directory. You can either search for a consultant using their surname, or choose a service from our list to see which consultants provide that service.
Our main website has a lot of useful information about our hospitals, such as what shops and facilities are available and how to get help and support. For more information choose the relevant hospital from the list below:
(Our fifth hospital, Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital, does not provide paediatrics services.)
Making our children and young people’s website
Our children and young people’s website was made possible by a generous donation from Marks & Spencer, which was passed on to the paediatrics team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust by the Trust’s charity, Imperial College Healthcare Charity.
The project was overseen by a steering group that included staff from the Trust’s paediatrics and communications teams, plus volunteer parents and creative professionals.
Specialist video production company Healthcare Films created the videos, with the kind help of many patients and their families, and leading children's interactive production company Complete Control created the designs for the website. We’d also like to thank Daniel Mayers and Hannah O'Brien for providing the voiceovers for the six and under video clips.
We are hoping to add more videos and other information to the website over time. If you have any suggestions for what we should include, please email web@imperial.nhs.uk.
