The North West London Decontamination Project is part of a National Strategy to improve decontamination and sterilisation of medical instruments in the NHS. The project will develop and implement a strategy for compliance with European laws. Bringing together the requirements of each Acute Trust and the PCTs is a complex project involving a wide range of stakeholders.
The Project Team is based at Parsons House in Hammersmith. It is governed by a Project Board made up of: Executives of each of the nine participating Hospital Trusts; a representative PCT Chief Executive; a specialist procurement advisor ; the National Decontamination Programme Director and the Local Project Manager.
The Project is coordinated by the Project Manager, Ben Irvine with specialist leads in each of the eight workstreams; Clinical, Theatres, Technical, Human Resource, Finance and Primary Care, IM&T and Logistics. These leads in turn convene subgroups made up of representatives of each of the Acute Trusts, or in the case of the PCT steering group and the PCT finance subgroup representatives from each of the eight PCTs providing services in North West London.
These stakeholders are involved in every aspect of the process, to secure a compliant modern decontamination service for North West London.
