One of the Dream School students undertook work experience at the Trust to gain an insight into the realities of working in theatres.

Woman bitten in the eye by a python
A woman who was bitten in the eye by a snake at a Mayfair nightclub had sightsaving surgery at the Western Eye Hospital.
Consultant ophthalmic surgeon Mr Ali Mearza said: “I have never seen anything like it. The patient was really lucky not to have lost her sight. The snake’s fangs sunk into the edge of her cornea and caused a haemorrhage inside and outside the eye.”

The three-page colour feature on the Winnicott Foundation focused on the achievements of the neonatal units at St Mary's and Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea hospitals, which it supports. It marked the 25th anniversary of the charity and included seven case studies of babies who have grown into healthy children or adults after being treated by one of our hospitals.
