Would you like a 3D/4D scan of your baby?
What is a 3D/4D scan?
A 3D scan shows the baby in three dimensions whilst a 4D scan is moving images of a 3D scan.
A 3D/4D scan uses the same technology as a 2D scan which is used routinely in maternity care.
The best time to perform a 3D/4D scan is between 24 and 32 weeks of pregnancy.
How much does the scan cost?
When and where do the scans take place?
The scans take place on weekday evenings or Saturdays - depending on availability in the ultrasound department at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital.
How clear are 3D/4D images?
The success of a 3D/4D scan depends on the size and position of the baby, the position of the placenta, and the amount of amniotic fluid around the baby.
Occasionally, despite encouraging the baby to move, it is not possible to obtain adequate images. If this happens, you may want to consider another appointment and it will be offered to you at no extra cost.
If the images are still not clear at the second attempt, we will refund 50 per cent of what you paid for your first scan.
Your appointment will take about 45 minutes.
