Anaesthetics

The anaesthetic service is delivered exclusively by consultants and senior fellows as well as senior trainees under direct supervision.

We strive to deliver the highest standards of care, working in close conjunction with other departments in the hospital. We embrace innovation and continually deliver care within clinical governance guidelines.

The service has a robust and active teaching programme for trainees and consultants alike and is involved in research projects at local, national and international levels.

We provide anaesthesia for patients undergoing the following specialist areas of surgery:

• Cardiothoracic surgery and percutaneous cardiological procedures
• Hepatobiliary and endocrine surgery
• Renal failure and transplant surgery
• Reproductive and oncological gynaecological surgery

We work in subspecialist consultant groups within multidisciplinary teams to deliver these highly specialised services. We also deliver all anaesthesia and analgesia services to Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital, which is a national referral centre for high risk obstetric cases.
