Timings of service
The labs function on a 24/7 basis, with once or twice daily sample collections from surgeries that are part of our network.

What to expect
We have partnered with DHL to provide the sample collection service. They will come to your surgery to make pickups. In most cases it is possible to provide an electronic link for reports so they come straight to your inbox.

Pathology user guide
Developed in conjunction with our Users, the Imperial Pathology User Guide is a reference booklet for healthcare professionals which provides detailed information about the diagnostic pathology service offered at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. We hope that it will enable you to make the most efficient use of the service. Information includes details of how to request an investigation, the range of services and tests offered by each laboratory, specimen requirements (including specimen collection advice), sample volumes, special precautions,  turnaround times and reference ranges. It also includes the contact details of key members of staff and numbers to contact for clinical advice, instructions for the transportation of specimens and how to obtain a pathology result via the result enquiry lines. If you have any questions or require information about the service provided by a specific laboratory, please contact the laboratory directly and ask for advice from a Pathologist or a Senior Healthcare Scientist as appropriate or email pathologyqueries@imperial.nhs.uk
