Referrals to Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital

All general gynaecology, endometriosis, outpatients hysteroscopy and menopause clinics can be accessed by Choose and Book.

Patients can be booked via Choose and Book into a clinic with a specific consultant. The rapid access and colposcopy clinics will be available soon on Choose and Book.

Urgent referrals can be faxed to the clinic and a consultant will prioritise the appointment on clinical need.

The EPAU service can be accessed by calling switchboard on 020 3313 1111 and ask for the gynaecology SHO on-call (bleep 9674) or by phoning the unit directly during opening hours. Any possible ectopic pregnancies should be referred through A&E.  

Referrals outside the EPAU opening hours or for patients requiring emergency assessment who are not pregnant may be made by contacting the gynaecology SHO directly.

All patients with suspected gynaecological cancers can be referred to the rapid access clinic on the ‘two-week wait’ pro forma.

Referrals to St Mary’s Hospital

GPs wishing to refer a patient for a routine scan appointment can call the ultrasound department on 020 3312 1515. Requests for pregnancy-dating scans should be made directly with the antenatal clinics.

Patients can be referred to the emergency gynaecology clinic, Monday to Friday, 09.00 to 16.30.
From 16.30 to 22.00, direct referral may be made to the gynaecology SpR via the hospital switchboard on 020 3312 6666.   

Outside these hours the A&E department will accommodate emergency referrals.

To refer a patient, or for an urgent ultrasound, contact the ultrasound department on
020 3312 1515. If they are unable to accommodate your request contact the gynaecology emergency room on 020 3312 2185 or the on-call SHO via switchboard on 020 3312 6666.

Referrals for termination of pregnancy should be made by calling the Raymede Clinic at St Charles Hospital on 020 8962 4450.

Colposcopy referrals can be faxed or sent by post.
