Referrals to Charing Cross Hospital

All referrals for suspected non-malignant haematological disorders are via Choose and Book.
All other referrals must be made in writing to the relevant consultant at Charing Cross Hospital.

Suspected cancer referrals are treated at Hammersmith and St Mary’s hospitals only. Please use the West London Cancer Network (WLCN) referral forms. All suspected cancer patients’ referrals must be received within 24 hours of the GP’s decision to refer and must meet the referral criteria. Please fax the WLCN form to 020 3313 8383.

Most of the clinical haematology clinics are highly specialised and not available via Choose and Book. Please fax referrals to 020 3313 3965 and the patient referral will be forwarded to the most appropriate clinic.

Secondary and tertiary referrals
Secondary and tertiary referrals are welcome for all clinical haematology subspecialties including:

  • Haemostasis and thrombosis
  • Red cell diseases
  • Malignant haematology

Referrals to St Mary’s Hospital

Referrals for general haematology are via Choose and Book, with the exception of the anticoagulant clinic.

For specialist referrals send a letter to the appropriate consultant. Urgent two-week bookings are via usual cancer pathway.

For urgent advice, please contact the department on 020 3312 6806 and ask for a specialist registrar or call reception on 020 3312 6666 and ask for the GP registrar on bleep 1025.

Urgent cancer referrals under two-week wait should be made by fax to 020 3311 1580 or call Cathy Smith on 020 3311 1527.
