In partnership with Higher Education Institutes (Bucks New University, King’s College London Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery, and Thames Valley University for undergraduate nursing) and local PCTs, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust offers placements to pre-registration nursing and midwifery students in a variety of settings.

The Trust has a committed team of senior nurses placed across all of its hospital to ensure that pre-registration nursing students and mentors are supported whilst on clinical placements. This team also focuses on preceptorship which encourages competent nurses to take up employment with the Trust once they have completed their degree.

The Trust’s Nursing and Midwifery Strategy also reveals its commitment to improving pre-registration education and training by working closely with Higher Education Institutions to review the student selection process in order to reduce the student attrition rates, moving all undergraduate nursing training to degree and postgraduate level with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice and research, and standardising clinical education across the Trust and developing effective learning environments.
