Professional development

Continuing professional and personal development (CPPD) or continuing professional development (CPD)

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust provides excellent scope for all staff including consultants, staff-grade doctors and associate specialists to develop as professionals. All of our nurses and midwives have the opportunity to undertake extensive and often highly specialised education and training programmes at some of the UK’s leading higher education providers. Other professional groups are actively encouraged to develop and gain further qualifications including Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), finance, accountancy, IT and management to name a few.

The Trust’s professional development strategy is aligned to the developments in education and training across London and the north-west London sector and reflects the rapidly changing demands on our workforce in the future.

Study leave

The development opportunities are identified at appraisal and addressed at a local level. Study leave applications must always be made in advance and learning opportunities must take place while employed by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
