Consultants
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is highly committed to supporting the continuous professional development (CPD) and lifelong learning of its consultant staff. The Academic Health Science Centre provides a large number of opportunities for professional development through short courses and other learning opportunities covering a wide range of clinical topics, leadership development and management skills. The Trust also has a strong consultant appraisal system which supports this developmental process.

Other doctors
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust also provides training for a number of other doctors in non-training posts. These include specialty doctors as well as clinical fellows, trust grade doctors and other posts. Many of these doctors go on to secure training programmes after their placement with the Trust. Through the London Deanery’s Frontier Project, many non-training post doctors have access to funding for study leave and further professional development.

The service commitment of all non-consultant grade doctors is very significant. These doctors contribute to both the emergency and elective care provided at the Trust and many provide autonomous care on the wards, in outpatients, in theatre and in the emergency department. The Trust is highly committed to supporting the ongoing learning and development of all non-consultant grade doctors working within the Trust.
