The Specialty Training Programme
Specialty schools are responsible for organising training in a particular field of medicine. The Specialty schools in our region are managed by the London Deanery and work in conjunction with their respective royal colleges, faculties and colleges. At a Trust level the training provision is organised by a college tutor within each specialty. The structure of the curriculum and timeframes for Specialty Training vary depending on the specialty school in question; on average postgraduate specialty training takes between six and nine years of full-time working.
A full listing of specialty schools in London can be found on the London Deanery’s website.
