Vascular surgery

Vascular surgery focuses on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of disorders of the blood vessels. There is an outpatient and day case facility for the management of vascular patients on this site.

The department is internationally renowned and is one of the largest carotid practices in the UK. The department has been the lead centre in the trials evaluating the role of endovascular aneurysm repair, management of venous ulceration, varicose veins and the management of lower limb ischaemia. Patients with varicose veins are offered all the latest treatment including radiofrequency ablation, laser and sclerotherapy modalities in the management of their venous disease. Charing Cross Hospital is the first NHS centre to provide a comprehensive varicose vein service based in outpatients under local anaesthetic.
