Urgent care centre

Hammersmith and Fulham Centres for Health

The Hammersmith and Fulham Centres for Health are primary care health centres that provide two types of service:

  • Urgent care – unplanned care, no appointment necessary
  • Normal GP services – planned care, appointment necessary. Our GP services are available to residents of Hammersmith and Fulham

The centres offer a full range of GP services and minor injury/illness care under one roof, and are open seven days a week.

If you need urgent care in the Hammersmith and Fulham area and cannot be seen by your GP, you can come to the Hammersmith or Fulham Centre for Health. You do not need to make an appointment. The centres are located in Hammersmith Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital, next to the emergency units.

Location and opening times
The Fulham Centre for Health is located in on the ground floor of Charing Cross Hospital, next to the accident and emergency department.
The Fulham Centre for Health is open for urgent care for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Once you arrive at the centre, you will see a doctor who will quickly decide on the best course of action. This may include care or treatment as follows:

  • In the emergency unit next to the Centre for Health in Charing Cross hospital
  • By a GP or nurse practitioner in the Centre for Health
  • Referral to an NHS service outside of the hospital you are at, such as, Hammersmith or St Mary's hospitals

If your situation is life-threatening, you will be transferred immediately to the emergency unit next to the Centre for Health Charing Cross hospital.

Please note that if you arrive at the emergency unit of Charing Cross Hospital, you will be directed to the centre for health next to the unit - only patients who arrive by ambulance will be taken directly to the emergency unit.
