Speech and language therapy

The Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) departments provide a comprehensive service to adults with communication and/or swallowing/feeding problems.
Inpatient services are offered as part of a consultant episode of care.

Specialist clinicians assess and treat adults with communication and swallowing disorders related to neurological and ENT pathologies, including stroke, progressive neurological disorders, head and neck cancer, voice disorders and gender reassignment.

Patients are able to access the following outpatient and specialist clinics:

• Videofluoroscopy (modified barium swallow)
• Fibre-optic endoscopic evaluation of the swallow (FEES)
• Joint voice clinic with nasendoscopic assessment of the voice
• SLT voice clinic
• Surgical voice restoration problem-solving clinic for patients who have undergone a laryngectomy
