The multidisciplinary diabetic foot clinic at St Mary’s Hospital consists of a diabetologist lead, specialist podiatrists, vascular surgeons, an orthotist, a microbiologist, an orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in the correction of deformity resulting from Charcot neuroarthropathy, a neurologist whose special interest is peripheral neuropathy, and a radiologist whose special interest is magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
The multidisciplinary diabetic foot team at the Charing Cross Hospital site includes specialist podiatrists, a vascular surgeon, an infectious disease consultant, a podiatric surgeon and a radiologist with a special interest in diabetic foot disease.

The St Mary’s team have published outcomes in peer-reviewed journals and are able to demonstrate low rates of major and minor amputation. We specialise in the treatment of infected foot ulcers, including ulcers associated with infection in the underlying bone, and in the management of Charcot neuroarthropathy.
The teams work closely with the renal physicians at Hammersmith Hospital. A network of podiatrists work in local communities and ensure safe transition of patients between hospital and community/primary care both when patients are managed on an outpatient basis and when discharged from hospital.

All podiatrists provide an integrated service between secondary and primary care to enable smooth transition of patients between all services.
