Plastic surgery

The plastic surgery department provides a full adult general plastic surgical service to patients meeting the differing criteria of their local PCT, including the initial treatment and assessment of suspected cancers.

The work undertaken by the department can be classified into the following main groups:

  • Breast surgery, including breast reconstruction
  • Hand surgery including rheumatoid hand surgery
  • Severe limb trauma, including open lower limb fractures
  • Skin cancer (see and treat)
  • Major London centre for head and neck cancer reconstruction
  • KTP and Co2 laser treatment

The department has five specialist consultants and two associate specialists who each run an outpatient clinic.

There is an emphasis on complex microsurgical reconstruction by the consultant staff, as well as regular day surgery lists and a nurse-led specialist dressing clinic.
