Oral and maxillofacial surgery

The oral surgery department covers routine and emergency work.

Minor oral surgery is performed under local anaesthetic in the clinical department. Treatments include:

  • Routine dental extractions
  • Removal of retained roots
  • Impacted third molars
  • Cyst removal/apicectomy
  • Biopsy
  • Bleeding tooth socket
  • Avulsed/fractured teeth and oral lacerations
  • Assessment of oral cancers
  • Assessment and treatment of temperomandibular joint conditions

Surgery under general anaesthetic is performed in our elective short-stay unit, the Riverside wing and covers all aspects of oral surgery.
