Neurosurgery

The neurosurgery service, based at Charing Cross Hospital, serves a population of more than two million people in west London and the Thames Valley.

Referrals are made from GPs, district general hospitals and through the neurology network in addition to referrals following trauma, intracranial haemorrhage or other neurosurgical emergency.

Neurosurgical subspecialisation includes:

  • Acoustic neuroma surgery
  • Functional neurosurgery/deep brain stimulation  
  • Neuro-oncology for primary brain tumour and metastatic disease
  • Pituitary surgery
  • Skull base surgery
  • Spinal assessment and surgery
  • Trauma
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Vascular neurosurgery

A 24-hour neurosurgical service is provided.
