Audiology and hearing services

Our well established team of qualified audiologists and hearing therapists provide a high degree of clinical expertise, professionalism and continuity of care to all our patients.

We deliver a compassionate service for patients, utilising cutting edge technology. We are able to add value to this by using a holistic approach to the total patient journey, in the acknowledgement that the patients’ needs are ongoing.

The multidisciplinary service offers specialist services including:

  • Adult diagnostic audiology and rehabilitation to include counselling on acceptance of hearing loss and advice on improving communication skills
  • Direct access referrals from GPs for hearing assessment for ages 16 and above
  • Hearing therapy including tinnitus retraining therapy
  • Vestibular diagnostics and rehabilitation
  •  Community services

A large range of digital hearing aids are available, ensuring that patients receive the most appropriate aid for their loss. State-of-the-art fitting techniques are used including real ear measurements and speech audiometry where indicated. Receiver in the ear and open fit hearing aids are fitted routinely in order to provide enhanced sound quality, aesthetics and patient comfort as well as allowing for instant fitting of hearing aids on the day of assessment.

If patients are unable to come into the hospital we offer a domiciliary service. Visits are made to patients who are housebound or in any of the elderly care homes in the area. The areas covered are Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Chiswick, Brentford and parts of Ealing. We also have a volunteer service which will help patients who are having problems with their hearing aid.

The hearing therapy service offers specialist counselling for tinnitus, acceptance of hearing loss and vestibular rehabilitation. Onward referral can also be made to communication and lip reading classes and social services for assistive devices.

Microsuction is currently provided when required for current patients. This will soon be available as a separate referral pathway.

For patients with bilateral conductive hearing loss or single sided deafness an assessment is provided for specialised Bone Anchored Hearing Aids.
