Breast screening helps healthcare professionals to detect breast cancer at an early stage, which in turn improves the chances of survival. The NHS breast screening programme is recognised as one of the best in the world and offers regular breast screening to over 1.6 million women every year. The programme is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary.
