The board of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, the UK’s first academic health science centre (AHSC) in partnership with Imperial College London, was approved in September 2007 by the secretary of state for health following an extensive public consultation.

Sir Richard Sykes Chairman
Sir Richard Sykes
Sir Richard Sykes (born 1942) was awarded a BSc in microbiology from Queen Elizabeth College, University of London, a PhD in microbial biochemistry from Bristol University, and a DSc from the University of London. He received a knighthood in the 1994 New Year's Honours list for services to the pharmaceutical industry. He has over 30 years of experience within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries having joined Glaxo Research in 1972 as Head of its Antibiotic Research Unit. Sir Richard was senior independent director, non-executive deputy chairman and chairman of the Remuneration Committee of ENRC from 2007 - June 2011, chairman of NHS London from December 2008 to July 2010, Rector of Imperial College London from 2000 - 2008 and a senior independent director of Rio Tinto plc from 1997 to 2008. He is a Fellow of Imperial College London and Imperial College School of Medicine, King's College London and Honorary Fellow of the University of Wales, Cardiff and the University of Central Lancashire.

Mark Davies Chief executive
Mark Davies
Mr Davies has more than thirty years’ experience in the NHS, including working as a chief executive in six NHS trusts over a period of nearly 20 years. He has direct knowledge of Imperial College Healthcare having been the interim chief executive of both the legacy organisations of St Mary’s NHS Trust and Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust prior to their merger and the creation of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in October 2007. He also played a major role in the establishment of the merged operation.
 
Medical director, clinical services
Professor David Taube
David is one of the UK's leading renal physicians. Educated at Oxford and Cambridge universities, he has pioneered models of renal medicine and transplantation and led the development of the West London Renal and Transplant Centre (WLRaTC). He has published over 110 peer-reviewed papers and was recently appointed professor of transplant medicine at Imperial College London.
Chief financial officer
Bill Shields

Bill joins the Trust with more than 20 years’ experience in NHS financial management. Previous roles include, director of finance and performance at the South West Strategic Health Authority, deputy chief executive and chief financial officer of Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.
Director of nursing
Janice Sigsworth
Janice Sigsworth joined the AHSC in October 2008 from the Department of Health, where she was the deputy chief nurse (England). This role involved delivering nursing policy in both research and acute service settings and providing leadership to nurses at all levels of the NHS.


Non-executive directors:

Jeremy Isaacs
Jeremy is a founding partner of JRJ Group. In the context of JRJ Group’s investment activities, Jeremy has assumed the position of non-executive chairman of Marex Spectron. Prior to the establishment of JRJ Group, Jeremy held the position of chief executive officer Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific, at Lehman Brothers from 2000 to 2008. Jeremy was instrumental in the development of Lehman Brothers’ international operations, a process which consisted of both business-building (equities, fixed income, investment banking, investment management) and geographic expansion (Continental Europe, Asia, Middle East). Previous to Lehman, Jeremy was an executive director at Goldman Sachs, which he joined in 1989. Jeremy serves many philanthropic initiatives, holding a range of positions, including: Trustee of The J Isaacs Charitable Trust, member of the Bridges Development Fund Advisory Board, member of the British Olympic Advisory Board, Trustee of the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice and honorary fellow of the London Business School. Jeremy joined the former St. Mary’s NHS Trust board in December 2003.
 
Sir Thomas Legg 
Thomas was permanent secretary of the Lord Chancellor's Department (now the Ministry of Justice) from 1989 to 1998. Since then, he has held a variety of posts, including the chairmanship of the former Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust, membership of the Audit Commission and the House of Commons audit committee. He is also a consultant to the law firm Clifford Chance.
The Hon Angad Paul
The Honourable Angad Paul is the chief executive officer of Caparo, one of the UK’s largest family-owned companies specialising in the manufacture of steel, automotive and engineering products. He also has extensive international interests in the Middle East and India. Angad is chairman of AV Pictures, a production company and sales agency that includes film distribution company Cinescope Entertainment and high-profile design and manufacturing company Established and Sons. He also co-founded Film 24, a television channel dedicated to films.
Sir Gerry Acher Sir Gerald Acher
Sir Gerald Acher brings a wealth of expertise in governance and corporate responsibility, risk management and audit to the Trust and will chair its audit and risk committee.
The distinguished businessman was the UK head of auditing and accounting, and the senior partner for London for accounting giants KPMG. More recently he has chaired the audit, risk and governance committees at NHS London and is currently the Camelot Group’s deputy chairman and chair of its advisory panel on corporate responsibility and its audit, security and risk committees.
Dr Martin Knight Dr Martin Knight
Dr Martin Knight has been involved in finance since he started with Morgan Grenfell in the City in 1974. He has been and is a director of a number of private and quoted companies and held a variety of financial posts. Martin finished his career as chief financial officer (CFO) of Imperial College London, where he was a governor for 18 years. Martin is currently the chairman of the finance committee of the Royal Institution, as well as being inter alia the chairman of Imperial Innovations Group plc. He will chair the Trust’s finance committee.
Rodney Eastwood Rodney Eastwood
Dr Rodney Eastwood has a long-standing relationship with the Trust and a background in governance, strategy and planning as current College Secretary and the former director of strategy and planning at Imperial College London. He has been a co-opted non-executive director of Imperial College Healthcare since 2008. His strong skills in planning and governance will prove invaluable as the Trust embarks on the journey to achieve foundation trust status.
