He correctly predicted the rise in penicillin allergy, survived being held prisoner of war by the Japanese, and was the first to prove the benefits of treatment for grass pollen allergy.<br />

Mr Barry Merchant, aged 67, was operated on successfully using the new Magellan™ Robotic System. Surgeons used the robot to repair Mr Merchant’s abdominal aortic aneurysm – a swelling in her aorta which, if left untreated, could have been fatal.<br />
