Robotic surgery hope for vascular patients

In a world-first, surgeons at London’s St Mary’s Hospital have used new robotic technology to perform surgery on a patient with a complex aortic aneurysm. Mr Barry Merchant, aged 67, was operated on successfully using the new Magellan™ Robotic System. Surgeons used the robot to repair Mr Merchant’s abdominal aortic aneurysm – a swelling in her aorta which, if left untreated, could have been fatal.
